One of the last things needed to complete our master bedroom is a pair of chairs for the foot of the bed.
Those of you that follow me on Instagram have probably figured out that I have an obsession with chairs.
I’m pretty sure it’s my life’s destiny to have only chairs throughout our house but the Mr wouldn’t be too happy without a sofa so, for now, I just sneak new ones in as often as possible.
I fell in love with a pair of custom English-roll-arm chairs at an estate sale last year.
When the last day arrived and they were still available for 50% off I assumed the chair gods had answered my prayers and our bedroom chair problem was solved!
Sadly, when placed at the foot of the bed it became obvious they were much too deep.
When making an ‘impulse buy’ I always have a backup plan idea. Then when the Mr. tries to argue I wasted money I can argue that, in fact, it was a well thought-out purchase with the potential to solve multiple problems.
Sometimes I have to improvise when the backup plan fails. Shhh…don’t tell!
The bedroom plan failed, but the classic style and high-quality build meant I wasn’t going to give up without a fight!
It didn’t take much to figure out they would be the perfect chairs to flank our living room fireplace.
However, the checkered coral upholstery didn’t work in our living room and custom slip covers were going to cost more than new chairs.
Tip: If you have high-quality but dated furniture & custom slip-covers aren’t an option: Take VERY careful measurements & search websites such as Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs, or local retailers of Lee Industries furniture to see if there is a slip covered furniture line that will closely fit yours until re-upholstery or custom covers are possible.
After months of searching, Ballard Design came to the rescue with the ‘Rebecca Chair’ covers in white bull denim that fit perfectly!
The chairs now fit right in with the rest of our slip covered furniture and look as if they were meant for that spot from the very beginning (see it wasn’t an impulse buy, haha)!
So the search for bedroom chairs continues….
The only use these will receive is the occasional afternoon nap or curling up with a book, so they don’t need to be the highest quality, but they must be stylish (of course)!
I’ve been looking at these chairs for awhile and cannot seem to make up my mind…
‘Chrisanna Wingback Chair‘- I like the mix of modern lines & soft fabric with nail head trim. It looks wide enough to curl up in and be comfortable, yet the back is straight enough that it won’t take up too much of the room.
‘Celestin Flour Upholstered Armchair‘- Similar to #1 but seems has a wider and slightly more rounded which I think would blend well with the coziness of a bedroom.
‘Jewel Club Chair‘- Something about the slimline look of this with the sloping arms appeals to me, it seems to imply romance and casual seating all at once. It’s also the cheapest of the 3 options so far!
‘Gazon Accent Wingback Chair‘ – Or I could go with something almost purely decorative like this! I love the look of the raw distressed wood mixed with linen type upholstery. It’s truly beautiful and would look right at home in our master bedroom.
The last 2 options would keep things simple with minimal distraction from the rest of the room using slipper chairs.
They wouldn’t be comfortable for any extended seating and I tend to feel out-of-place in chairs without arm rests but they are beautiful and classic.
What do you think?
‘Bottrell Tufted Side Chair‘- I love the button tufting and sloping back of this chair.
‘Hobson Showood Accent Slipper Chair‘- This one is more modern clean lines and leg design. The fabric is beautiful and the seat is wider than the previous slipper chair.
This is the chair that I would pick if it wasn’t too big..
‘Lavelle Wingback Chair‘- I LOVE the faded pattern on this chair as it blends in perfectly with our master bedroom colors. The style is casual and again with the shorter rolled arms & wing back!
Do you think the Mr. would agree to just make the bedroom 3ft longer so I can get this one?
